在許多場合是可以互換的，如： I’m learning/studying to skate. 我正在學(xué)習(xí)滑冰。 He’s learning/studying French now. 他在學(xué)習(xí)法語。 但是它們是有差別的： 1.意義不同：learn強(qiáng)調(diào)的是獲得知識(shí)，內(nèi)容或信息等結(jié)果，study強(qiáng)調(diào)的是學(xué)習(xí)、研究等行為的舉動(dòng)或過程。 I learned a lot from my father. 我從父親那里學(xué)到了許多東西。 You'd better learn a trade while you are young. 你最好趁年輕學(xué)一門手藝。 I like to study in the library. 我喜歡在圖書館學(xué)習(xí)。 Reading for pleasure and reading for study are not the same. 讀書以自娛和讀書以學(xué)習(xí)是不相同的。 
She studied hard finally learned the lesson. 她努力學(xué)習(xí)，終于把這一課學(xué)會(huì)了。 He studied hard and finally learned the language. 他努力學(xué)習(xí)，終于學(xué)會(huì)了這種語言。 2.側(cè)重點(diǎn)不同：study是學(xué)習(xí)，研究的意思。是延續(xù)性動(dòng)詞。learn是學(xué)會(huì)，弄懂的意思。是瞬間動(dòng)詞。Learn還有：聽到；得知；獲悉 l never learned his name.我從未聽說過他的名字。（知悉） How long have you been studying English? 你學(xué)英語多久了？ She studied chemistry for three years. 她學(xué)了三年化學(xué)。 Most students face the problem of funding themselves while they are studying. 大多數(shù)學(xué)生在求學(xué)期間都會(huì)面臨經(jīng)濟(jì)來源的問題。 I learnt of her arrival from a close friend. 我從一位好友那里聽說她到了。 We were very surprised to learn (that) she had got married again. 我們聽說她又結(jié)婚了，感到很驚訝。 
Physicists are now studying cosmic rays. 物理學(xué)家正在研究宇宙射線。 3.用法不同：learn 多用于學(xué)習(xí)的初級階段或帶有模仿性的操作技藝等；而 study 則常用于較高深或周密的研究。 The child is learning to walk. 那孩子在學(xué)走路。 He's learning to dance. 他在學(xué)跳舞。 She’s at university studying law. 她在大學(xué)學(xué)習(xí)法律。
